1987

The 1987 Travel City playsets were compact Micro Machines playsets designed for portable play. They could be taken apart and folded up, making them easy to carry wherever you went. The playsets could also be connected to one another to create a larger continuous play area, allowing players to expand their Micro Machines world. Each Travel City also included two plastic ramps that allowed vehicles to drive on and off the Travel City bases. Some Travel City playsets included a unique vehicle, while most came with random vehicles from the 1987 collections.

It is worth noting that the photographs shown on the packaging of the 1987 Travel City playsets are not always faithful to the actual contents. Stickers, colors, and even the number of pieces included may differ from what is shown on the box.

That same year, two larger suitcase-style playsets were also released. These included a compartmented tray designed to store Micro Machines vehicles
