Land Cruiser

The first Toyota Land Cruiser models of the 1950s were built with one goal: reliability in the toughest conditions. Derived from military-style utility vehicles, the early BJ and FJ series featured ladder-frame construction, solid axles, and large inline engines designed for torque rather than speed. Their design was simple and functional—flat body panels, removable tops, and minimal interior trim. These early Land Cruisers were tools, not lifestyle vehicles. They proved themselves in rough terrain across Asia, Australia, and beyond, laying the foundation for one of the longest-running 4×4 nameplates in automotive history.
