Mid-4 Concept Car

The Nissan MID4 Concept Car was an advanced prototype developed in the mid-1980s that showcased Nissan’s technological ambitions. It featured all-wheel drive paired with a sophisticated four-wheel steering system and a mid-engine layout—innovative choices for its time. The MID4 also introduced a twin-turbocharged V6 engine and extensive use of lightweight materials, aiming to compete with high-end sports cars. Although it never went into production, the MID4 had a lasting influence on later Nissan performance models, particularly the NX and 300ZX, and demonstrated Nissan’s engineering capabilities in areas that would later define its performance lineage.
