X-29

The Grumman X-29 was an experimental aircraft developed in the 1980s to explore advanced aerodynamic concepts. Its most striking feature was the forward-swept wing, designed to improve maneuverability and control at high angles of attack. Because this configuration was inherently unstable, the X-29 relied on a computerized fly-by-wire system to remain controllable. Although it never entered production, the X-29 provided valuable data that influenced later military aircraft design.
