Sun Color Changers
Micro Machines Sun Color Changers are Micro Machines coated with a special paint that changes color when exposed to sunlight. Some examples still retain this feature, while others no longer do. This could be due to the many years that have passed, or to different batches of paint used during production. Usually, orange turns red, while gray and white shift toward violet. The photos showing the color after sun exposure were taken only a few seconds later, but unfortunately the effect fades very quickly — almost as fast as the color changes under sunlight. If you only see 2 photos instead of 4 in the model listing, it means there has been no color change caused by exposure to sunlight. This special series of Micro Machines was released in both 1989 and 1990, so on this website it will be categorized under both years.
